Laboratories for LEATHER AND FOOTWEAR
Branca Idealair studies, projects and builds Climatic Units to manage the precision air conditioning of testing laboratories for leather and footwear products designed in compliance with National and International Standard
The Standard UNI EN 12222:1999 standard establishes the thermo-hygrometric conditions inside a laboratory for the conditioning of footwears and for tests to analyze their physical and mechanical properties:
and for Leather testing :
According to the Standard the samples of leather and footwear products must remain in an climate controlled room for a period of about 24/ 48 hours to reach the thermal equilibrium needed for carrying out the physical laboratory tests.
The same climatic conditions are accepted for tests that must be carried out in laboratories under a climatic control.
For some types of leather tests, the Tropical test is required under the following environmental conditions:
This type of conditioning is carried out inside the Standard Atmosphere chamber Branca Idealair.

The test on the sample must be carried out within 10 minutes of taking it out of the chamber.
It is recommended, but not expressly required by the standard, a environmental monitoring every 50 m³ to ensure quality control on the tests carried out in the conditioned laboratory.
Consider further test methods in the shoe factory referring to dry and wet antistatic test method where the following climatic conditions are indicated respectively:
Anti static test method UNI EN 1149 (Anti-static test method) at Dry conditions
Anti static test UNI EN 1149 (Anti-static test method) at Wet conditions
The setting of the samples lasts about 7 days.
This pre-acclimatization of the samples greatly affects the electrical conductivity of footwear and therefore in the accuracy and reproducibility of the test results.
The test must be carried out within 5 minutes of removing the Standard atmosphere chamber.
